It looks like the family is getting help printing flyers and such, but this showed up on my feed and I wanted to share. Not just to help find Ian, but to spread awareness for the dangers of meeting people on Craigslist. If you live in the Portland Area please be aware of the Craigslist scam. This scary has been posted in others places in Oregon and Washington as well.

Please share to help find Ian!

I’m gonna reblog this cause I lived in Seattle for 4.5 years, and when I was looking for work there was this Craigslist ad about house-sitting that paid quite a lot. When I responded, I was told the owner would be out of the country for awhile and didn’t need to interview me, but would send me a $1700 check to get started, and I could show up at the house on X date to get started.

I was young and naive, and thrilled to get a check so large as to cover living expenses and college debts at the time, but I mentioned it to my parents, who threw up a ton of red flags. As I looked at it closer, it was too good to be true, and who the flying fig sends out $1700 checks to someone they haven’t even interviewed?

Long story short, I mailed the check back and never went, but wondered sometimes if I’d almost been trafficked. This scam works its way around in various forms, and looks like it has claimed a victim. Please spread this, especially if you’re in the Northwest US, both for knowledge and if anyone can help this family, or has knowledge that can help this family.

Oh geez, I hope they manage to find this kid. :C

street harassment stems from the view that the public still belongs to men and women are enroaching on their territory when we exist outside of the home

Surely you would have empirical evidence to back such a claim?

Engaging with an anti-feminist is like, always futile but would the Harvard Law Review suffice as an acceptable source? The journal article has a few other sources as footnotes.

why do some queer people [see:cis white gay men] want to hold straight peoples hands and tell the rest of us that we need to be nice to the straights even though they’re literally killing us? being nice to straight people is less exciting to me than tap dancing or idk, water…

Oh, and recently I’ve taken to trolling various social (in)justice blogs, so if that bothers you, you probably won’t like me.”

stop saying things

But I like saying things…

here’s an idea, don’t.

What a compelling argument…

do I really need to explain to you that cis white gay men aren’t the majority of the lgbt movement nor did they start it not do they do anything for me? fckh8 and hrc only care about marriage equality and surprise, theyre largely cis, white, and men.

even so, I don’t need them as my allies and I most certainly shouldn’t have to be nice to anyone for them to fight for my rights to be respected as a human being. I’m not playing respectability politics to placate some mans vapid need for affirmation just so I don’t get fired or evicted or murdered to be trans. get the fuck off my post with that.

Uh huh. Keep telling yourself that.

Keep lashing out at people and enjoy being a hermit. See how far your movement gets when you snarl at everyone like a psycho.

I encourage you to look up the stonewall riots. Until then, get the fuck off my posts.

My 3 year old brother’s kindergarten teacher tried to tell him he couldn’t play with the Elsa doll, because it’s for girls. He got sent home for telling her to shut up.
Needless to say, my mum gave that teacher a piece of her mind and is now looking for a new kindy.

Good moms are good.

Anonymous asked: like, dont get me wrong im not against veganism; i think its great but i just dont understand your statement under the 'i think. therefore i am vegan' post because you say that eating meat is contrary to being a feminist but that would also mean that being a feminist means being restricted in your own freedom of what you want to eat. or am i wrong? i just really dont like it when vegans make non-vegans feel less humanely than a vegan because

soycrates:

necessaryveganism:

Your freedom cannot extend so far that it stomps on the freedom of someone else. That’s not freedom, that’s oppression.

I’ll give you an example.

When I say “we should be able to choose freely who we have sex with,” I mean we should not be restricted to gender, race, nationality, etc. What I don’t mean is you get to have sex with whoever you want regardless of whether they want it - that’s rape. Would you say not being allowed to rape is restricting your freedom to have sex with whoever you want?

Similarly, when I say “you can eat whatever you want,” I mean you can choose from the variety of grains, fruits, vegetables, etc. What I don’t mean is you get to slaughter a living, breathing being. Would you say not being allowed to kill is restricting your freedom to eat whatever you want?

I’m not trying to make people feel bad just for the sake of it - I tell people the facts and I tell them my opinion - if the reality of your actions makes you feel bad then maybe you’re doing something bad. You have the opportunity to change it.

"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." - Maya Angelou

Freedom is not about ignoring or preventing the freedom of others, regardless of what ethical label it falls under. No feminist, humanist, egalitarian or human rights activists is given jurisdiction by their creed to oppress others.
